Shadow Shot Sunday
Saturday, January 10, 2009
Earlier this week, we had a half-way decent day with lots of sunshine. Claire had been given a bottle of bubbles at school so we headed out to blow some when we got home. Blowing bubbles is one of my favorite things to do and I usually grab my camera. This time the added bonus was great shadows on the garage!
I read once that if you blew bubbles in subzero weather they would freeze in the air before they popped. About 15 years ago we tried it once when the wind chill was 30something below zero. It didn't really work--- but I still think it could! And will try again someday!

ReplyDeleteYou need to meander on over to Iowa this week, I guarentee you will freeze your bubbles off...ha...cute shot!
ReplyDeleteLove the shot of the old door below and the memories we all have of our Fathers and Grandfathers working in their lil shops, those spaces of wonder that we used to love to go to as children...memories tucked away in weathered old structures...
Have a great Sunday!

ReplyDeleteThese are marvelous shadows, Jill! I don't know if bubbles will freeze in sub-zero weather but it doesn't matter, the photos are the thing... :)
ReplyDeletehow sweet! I love playing with bubbles even at my advanced age ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful images you have created. By coincidence, I took some photos of bubbles for my blog entry of 7 January, so I was doubly delighted to see yours.
ReplyDeleteThose shots are so precious!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the thoughts on my camera problem. I'll be paying attention to where my fingers are next time I take a pic, just in case :D
Blowing bubbles really is fun! Great shots... I love that you can even see the shadows of the bubbles on the door. Cool. Never heard of the idea of them freezing. Not sure I'd care enough to go out in sub zero weather to find out, though. Brrrr. What if you blew them into the freezer on your refrigerator...
ReplyDeleteOh these are too adorable! Such sweet & fun shadow shots. I haven't been bubble blowing for years. Must give it a whirl again. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteI hope the frozen bubble experiments work out in the end for you. If not, doesn't matter as you and your Claire will continue having fun in your attempts :)
You have a great eye. We're remodeling our enire house and Icompletely identify with your banner on a sub-atomic level.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bubble afficianado and will confess in advance that I'm going to attempt to duplicate your amazing idea. Happy SSS!
Gorgeous shadow shots! Never gets really cold enough here in England to try your frozen bubble experiment - perhaps if I blew bubbles into my freezer, they would freeze amongst the peas and ice cream?
