It's Tea on Tuesday and Texture Tuesday, again? so soon?
I thought our dining room table would give you a good idea of a "day in the life" so to speak. I decided though to just show you the little pile of rocks I found here yesterday, dirt and all. I suppose when my little gals watched me take pictures on the table of these beauties, they thought they would have something to add. :) These little findings make my day. I will probably put them in a bowl. In fact, they brought me the twigs and branches which led to this display.
For more tea (and coffee) please visit Kimmie at Art in Red Wagons.
Kim issued a theme for this week's Texture Tuesday...anything "vintage"...I could do that! This very pretty book is out in our garage yet because it has quite a bit of mildew on it. Sad. Not really sure what I'll do with it for sure. I think a few days in the sun will help.
I added two of Kim's textures, Lightpaper4 and Autumn2 to this diptych. I wish I could say that I would love to read this when I have the time, but to be honest, I think it would be a hard read. I'm certainly not accustomed to reading this kind of poetry. Now, give me a Dr. Seuss book....
There will be some great vintage themed textured photos over at the cafe, so head on over!

I have some old poetry books too! In good condition even. You're right- the language is "hard". Like slogging through mud. But I feel so intelligent just HOLDING one of the books and the words look so romantic. Reason enough for me to keep them. ha! You can keep your Kindles and iPads.
ReplyDeleteI like rocks and natural things too, but space becomes an issue after awhile, eh? Or do you do "catch amd release"? (put them back into "the wild" when you are done enjoying them? ;)
I never read Dr. Seuss, but I also don't read poetry that I have trouble understanding. Love the mug, coffee, and rocks, though. Really clever use of filters.
ReplyDeleteI hope the sun helps the mildew. It does nothing for books that tried to live through my flood this winter.
Both your images invite one to pause and reflect. Lovely work!
ReplyDeleteLove the old book! Great photos once again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images! Love the rocks... I meant to bring some back from the river...but I forgot. I think baking soda is good for mildewed books.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous vintage feeling.... beautiful texture!

ReplyDeleteyour tea post is so warm ad lovely in so many ways dear Jill!
ReplyDeleteMy Dad was a civil war buff and collected many books...he would wipe down the covers with ammonia and water on a wrung out rag...I have tried trapping musty books with fresh crushed Lavender in plastic bins with a snap on lid?
Happy May!

I know what you mean about rocks and gifts from a child's hand ... Some of my favorite treasures are like that. Your textured shots are so beautiful and peaceful ... A lovely combo of tea on Tuesday and the studies in texture. I love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little gift of the rocks. They would look lovely in a bowl!
ReplyDeleteI always love your photos. Love the shadows cast by the tea cup and the rocks in the first one.

Oh, I miss those days of being handed clumps of sweetness from little hands...even when they have the roots attached and they came from {gasp} your own garden! So interesting to read all the advice on dealing with musty books.
