This Wednesday I'm linking up with Junker Newbie for Would You Buy It Wednesday. Bloggers are posting about items they either bought or saw and then posing the question, "Would you buy it?".
Well, would you? I did. Oh yes, I did for sure! It was on a 75% off table at the shop where I have a booth and I picked it up for $3. You've probably already figured out I bought it for the frame. Not that I have anything against bright colored velvet paintings. If any of you are going to tell me that these paintings are selling on Etsy for $50 I don't want to hear it because I've already dismantled it!
Actually, I took the painting off and was going to send it to Robelyn because I know that she would use it in an "oh so redneck chic" bag! Unfortunately, it's too brittle and dirty. Well, it was. Now it's really brittle, torn, but clean because I threw it in the wash to see if it would fade in a neat way. It didn't.
I already have a frame just like this that I used to frame some fabric that I just loved. I didn't know what to do with the fabric and someone suggested framing it...it's a Christmas print, but I leave it hung up year round. I'll try to get a picture of it and show you when I do something with this one.
Anyway, chime in, would you buy it? Then you can go over to Junker Newbie and read the other fun posts.

Too funny! I just purchased a vintage velvet picture too...for the frame. I also asked myself as I ripped it off if I just dismantled something that would be worth something on etsy:)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the finished product.
Blessings
*giggle*
ReplyDeleteI could put it with my Velvet Elvis!!! LOLOL Oh... I should link THAT up!!!
I would buy it for the frame - most definitely!!! I saw the other day where a lady had painted a couch... fabric and all!!! I wonder if that would work for something like this? Maybe use it as a "pin board" afterwards? Okay - now you have to find another one - and BUY IT!!! haha!!!
Thank You!!! ;-D

That's a very cool frame and I would have bought it for $3.00. I have some really interesting art pieces that I have purchased for the frames. Great find!!

uh, no. I don't think I could have looked at it long enough to even notice the frame! It really does make my eyes hurt! But, knowing your creativity, you will make this ugly duck into something beautiful!
ReplyDeleteFrom now on, you get ALL of my painted on velvet pieces!
I would have bought it! Funny you tried to wash the velvet! If it wasn't brittle in the first place I wonder if you could have sewn it? Maybe a purse for a color blind person? Anyway, great find, these posts really get me looking at things through new eyes.
ReplyDeleteNope, would have been knocking you over to get past you, headed for the white ironstone area... :D
