For my birthday awhile back I received and incredible box of goodies and gifts from a dear friend of mine. Among those treasures was a bag of crocheted flowers that she had made.
I knew right away that I would string them onto a garland/bunting of sorts.
Well, when I came to do just that I realized that I would like them in a wreath instead. I found a foam wreath that I had in my stash of supplies. I proceeded to wrap it with 1" strips of muslin I tore from a scrappy piece I had. Maybe it used to be a pillow case?
I had not decided the details yet when I emailed my friend and told her my plan. She said she could see them with greenery and pinned on the wreath.
So, I went and sat with the flowers and my wrapped wreath at my messy sewing table and there were vintage white buttons...and fabric scraps...all in sight...hmmm...maybe that could work?
I went to my stash of green vintage fabrics, tore pieces about 1" by 3" and folded them into a rough leaf shape. I pinned them to the foam wreath along with the crocheted flowers and layered buttons for the flower center.
I had to choose buttons that had small holes for the top button so my pin wouldn't just pop through. The pins were ones I had on hand, but you could do this with pins with a pretty pearl head and then it would be easier to choose your buttons.
Each flower she crocheted was a different pattern so with the random green patterns of vintage fabric and different buttons, it all works well together!
Want to make your own? A quick google search will bring you all kinds of flower patterns!
For fun...I textured one of the pictures. :)
